“IT’S TIME for LOCAL POLICING” says SNP’s Len Woods
By Dunfermline West SNP on Tuesday 13 February 2007, 23:09
Commenting on the
announcement by the Scottish Executive that it is to give police officers the
powers to hand out fixed penalty notices for anti-social behaviour, SNP
Parliamentary Candidate for Dunfermline West said:
"This is a sensible proposal which is long overdue. Summary justice requires
a speedy and firm response as those who commit actions which cause offence and
annoyance must realise that there are consequences which are immediate.
"However, if this initiative is to work we need a highly visible police presence in and around Dunfermline to enforce this or the powers will be worthless.
